Hi. I’m Jessica.
I work a full-time job managing and coaching a team of IT professionals at a company that has helped me build my professional career for over 11 years. I have learned an incredible amount about leadership, teamwork, flawless execution, attention to detail, and managing a fast-paced workflow.
I am a fitness enthusiast.
I have been lifting weights and working out consistently for the past 12 years. It is a passion of mine, and the gym is where I go to decompress and release stress. I am constantly researching ways to enhance my workouts through new exercises, better supplements, and on-point diet and nutrition. Seeing results is what drives me. I am a competitor at heart, and I try to beat yesterday’s version of me every day.
I am a furniture and home accessory bargain hunter.
I get an unnatural thrill from finding unique secondhand furniture and restoring it to a new beauty. I have outfitted nearly our entire home with upcycled Craigslist and yard sale finds.
I love a good DIY project.
I can’t count the number of times I have resisted buying an awesome home decor item because I convinced myself that I could make it on my own. I have had my fair share of “Pinterest fails,” but I have learned so much in the process.
Of course, my most rewarding job of all is raising my three young children who remind me every day to slow down and soak in the little moments as much as I possibly can.
I can’t do everything, but I work hard to do most things.
And I want to share my ideas, research, and experience with anyone who can benefit.
It is my hope that Jess of Most Trades is a place to teach you a little bit about how to do most things.
I have been putting one foot in front of the other for years, rarely stopping to think about how full my plate is. I am frequently asked, “How do you get it all done?,” and I really don’t know how to answer this question other than prioritization and because I don’t give myself any other choice but to get it done.
I believe that people are often too afraid to try something new. I think people see pictures of DIY projects that others havle completed and think, “Yeah right, I could never do that.” I think people are afraid to take the first step towards fitness because they don’t know where to start, are afraid to fail, or don’t think they will ever see results.
I want to give you the tools and inspiration to do more, and believe that you can.
You don’t have to be Martha Stewart to tackle a DIY project. You don’t have to be a certified personal trainer to kill it in the gym. You don’t have to hire an interior decorator to create home decor that makes you happy. And you don’t have to hire in a full-time nanny in order to be able to have a successful career and raise small children.
