I’M JESS(ICA)
I can't do everything, but I work hard to do most things – & I'm ready to talk. Let's do most!KEEP IN TOUCH
NEWSFLASH
I was born and raised in South Carolina where my husband and I are currently raising our small army of three children. I’m a fitness-craving, DIY-holic, bargain decor shopper with a full time career in information technology.
My life is one big balancing act. It’s how I survive. It’s how I make sure to find time in my life to do the things that I need, the things that I love, and the things that I want to learn more about.
I am a perfectionist with an obsession for detail, but I live for a good shortcut.
I love all of the fancy things — shoes, clothes, jewelry, but I spend 90% of my free time in workout leggings and t-shirts.
I love to dream big, but I am very much a realist. I need to be able to action something. If I can’t, I lose interest.
I am annoyingly obsessed with proper grammar in written text, but words like “ain’t,” “y’all,” and “fixin’ to” are a natural part of my every day vocabulary.
I have a big heart, but my sarcasm runs deep.
I love to laugh, but I don’t have time for BS.
My workout playlist includes 90s country, 90s rap, and Mariah Carey.
See? Balance.

As I started to fall in love (become obsessive) about my newfound life-passions, I realized, in every single instance, I had absolutely no clue what I was doing. But I wanted to learn. Plus, I am competitive. I grew up playing ball, and I just can’t help it. I must win everything. It doesn’t matter if I am trying to land a multi-million dollar deal at work, playing checkers, or trying to beat the stranger beside me to the checkout counter. It’s a blessing and a curse. But it’s what drives me to pursue what I love.
When my husband and I bought our first home, I had no idea what I was doing as far as decorating goes. I bought geometric patterned rugs to go with antique furniture and modern shaped bookcases. I had curtains in my living room with hemlines that were nearly a foot off the floor. (I know, the horror.) When I finally started figuring out what my true decorating style was, I quickly realized that everything I loved costs approximately one million dollars. I had to figure out how to create these looks on a shoestring budget. That is when I started purchasing and restoring second-hand furniture. I was hooked. I sent my husband all over the upstate of South Carolina to gather my newfound treasures so that I could create something magnificent out of them. I was hooked.
I first started becoming interested in fitness when I graduated from college. Having played sports nearly all my life, I needed something to keep me active. I was lucky enough to find a fantastic trainer who taught me all of the basics of lifting and nutrition. That was 13 years go. Today, I am able to put my own workouts together, and I continue to rely on some pretty incredible resources that I have found on social media to keep things interesting.
I have tried a ton of things when it comes to nutrition –low carb, high carb, no carb, high fat, low fat, various macro splits, eating 6 times a day, eating 3 times a day, carb cycling– you name it, I’ve probably tried it. It was through a serious amount of trial and error that I really learned what my body responds well to. The same plan will not work for everyone. The most important thing is to find what you will be able to be consistent with. You’ve heard it 100 times, but it doesn’t get any less true — nutrition is a lifestyle, not a diet.
In each aspect, I relied heavily on soaking in the knowledge of others. I was grateful that others spent the time to provide meaningful content, guides, and advice that I could benefit from.
It’s my turn to give back. I hope I am able to inspire you to do something more, something new, or something better.
